My name is Rachel and I am the aunt of Brantley Wendig. I am creating this GoFundMe for my nephew Brantley and his parents because in the beginning of February we were all devastated by the news that Brantley has Burkitt Lymphoma. This is a fast-growing and aggressive type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Brantley went to his primary doctor Wednesday, Feb 5th, for stomach pains he had for about a week. He got sent to KOP ER to rule out a hernia due to the doctor feeling a hard lump above his belly button. They did an ultrasound and found out it was a tumor. He got transferred to CHOP in Philly where they immediately performed an MRI and started a plan for surgery to work on his kidneys. They added stents and drains because they were in acute kidney failure due to the tumor engulfing the ureters and backing up urine back into his kidneys. They performed both tumor and bone biopsies, PET, CT, ultrasounds, and just scan after scan, blood tests, and a spinal tap over the course of 2/3 days until on day 3 he was diagnosed with group B lymphoma. He will undergo chemo while admitted to CHOP for 3 weeks and then will follow a routine of 1 week admitted and 2 weeks home. He will have to switch to virtual schooling as well to accommodate the next 6 months of scheduled chemotherapy.
I am hoping to ease the financial stress of tolls, gas, meals during hospital stay due to it being far from their home, over-the-counter meds, and other accommodations and supplies to ease his time at home in between treatment.
Please help us to relieve some of the burden on his parents so that he might get the absolute best care over the next several months he has to battle this. We are so very grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have already received as a whole family. Thank you and God Bless.
