Bennett has been suffering from terrible migraines since late spring/early summer of 2024. Bennett and his mother, Amanda attended many appointments. On 12/20/24 she was called to attend to him as he could barely walk out of school. On 12/23/24 he was at an MRI with his father Michael to rule out anything from a prior Neuro. appointment they had about a month ago. This appointment did not go well. He was admitted to the Emergency Room and Amanda was told to immediately report there. At this time Bennett was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor 4cm by 6cm, which has masked itself as chronic migraines. This brain tumor was also causing hydrocephalus which is retention of fluid in the brain. This was causing severe pain and is very serious without treatment. Bennett has not left the hospital since this appointment.
This diagnosis came two days before Christmas. Therefore, the neurosurgeon and his team were away for the holiday. Luckily the medical team was able to keep Bennett’s pain and pressure manageable until surgery was able to be scheduled.
On 12/27/24 Bennett was able to undergo surgery to remove the tumor and release the pressure from his skull. This surgery was successful. Recovery from this surgery was initially very rough, but he is doing much better now that the pain is under control. They are still waiting for results as to what type the cancer is and what the next treatment options are.
Amanda will be by Bennett’s side during recovery and will not be working. Donations will be used for medical expenses, food, and bills.
Amanda and Michael are extremely grateful for all of those who have reached out and expressed support for Bennett and the family. Prayers are also needed and appreciated. Please follow his caring bridge page for additional updates.
