Help Avery Fight Leukemia

Our beloved son, Avery, a bright and courageous 15-year-old, has been faced with the unthinkable: a diagnosis of high-risk leukemia. Our lives were turned upside down. Avery’s immune system is now severely compromised, making him incredibly vulnerable to even the smallest infection. Because of this, he must remain in strict isolation at the hospital until at least mid-September, away from the comfort of home, his friends, and the normal life every teenager deserves.

Avery was admitted on May 27th and has already endured countless tests, procedures, and treatments that would be overwhelming for anyone, let alone a child. Yet, he continues to greet each day with a brave smile and a will to fight that humbles everyone around him.

The road ahead is long. Even after he is finally able to come home, Avery will require intensive outpatient treatments for the next 2½ to 3 years. As you can imagine, someone has to be with Avery at all times in the hospital, so I had to take a leave of absence from my job at Rivergate Vet to stay by his side. My husband John and I are here with him around the clock, leaving our family with just one income during one of the most financially and emotionally difficult times of our lives.

We are doing everything we can to keep Avery strong, safe, and hopeful, but we cannot do it alone. Every donation, no matter the size, will help cover medical costs, travel expenses, and the basic needs of our family while we focus on helping Avery get better.
