Help Me Access a Life-Saving Breast Cancer Vaccine
My name is Ashley Greene, and I have been fighting breast cancer with everything I have for the past two years. After my first rounds of chemotherapy in 2023–2024, we thought the cancer was behind us. But in January of this year, we learned that it was not gone and had spread to a mammary lymph node. As you can imagine, we were shocked, scared, and devastated.
To make things even more challenging, my cancer was originally HER2 triple-positive but came back HER2-negative in the mammary lymph node, meaning it is heterogeneous. This changed everything about how my medical team approached treatment and added new complexity to my fight.
I began AC chemotherapy — also known as “The Red Devil” — and endured ten of the hardest weeks of my life, followed by 30 rounds of radiation. I’ve never felt so sick, depleted, or broken — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Thankfully, my recent PET scan and blood work show that the chemo and radiation have done their job, and my family and I are beyond relieved. But because of the aggressive nature of my cancer, I remain at a high risk for recurrence.
That’s why I’ve been exploring every possible option to reduce that risk — and one of the most promising is a personalized cancer vaccine called a neoantigen vaccine, available through a self-funded clinical trial at the Jaime Leandro Foundation. Neoantigen vaccines are an innovative form of cancer immunotherapy that trains your immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells. Each vaccine is tailored to a patient’s unique tumor, helping the immune system stay on high alert to prevent recurrence. Early clinical trials have shown promising results in breast cancer and other cancers.
Unfortunately, because this treatment is still considered experimental, insurance will not cover it. The cost is $100,000 — a staggering amount for one family. So, I’m asking for your help. Your donation, no matter the size, can make a life-changing difference — not only for me but for the future of women who may benefit from this breakthrough technology. I would love nothing more than for these vaccines to become FDA-approved and accessible to all who need them.
For me, it’s not just about the treatment — it’s about time. Time with my two beautiful children, my loving husband, and the people I hold most dear.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity. Together, we can bring this hope within reach.
