Baby Reece's Journey

On February 25th my niece Evelynn Reece (“Reece”) made her entrance into this world a little early. She was born 8 weeks early ( estimated due date April 19th) Reece was in the NICU for 44 days at UVA. She went home on April 9th and due to Reece not maintaining her weight she was readmitted to UVA Pediatrics on May 9th. Reece is being watched very closely due to her not gaining weight and not tolerating her feeds. At this time there is no clear answer as to why she is unable to maintain her weight. Further testing is being done to hopefully figure out what she needs to grow properly. My sister and brother-in-law are traveling to UVA daily and taking turns staying at the hospital. Although they have managed thus far the many days at the hospital are adding up. We are hoping they get their sweet baby girl back home soon, but as of now they don’t have an answer. Myself and my youngest sister Hannah would like to help take a little bit of the weight off of their shoulders. Our niece has been so strong and overcome many obstacles already and we know she will continue. We ask that even if you can’t donate anything to help them out that you lift them all up in your prayers. Prayers for Reece’s strength, but also prayers for Justin and Ashley’s strength. Prayers for their other children’s strength and understanding. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. This family has been through a lot already and the road ahead holds so many challenges and unknowns, don’t stop the prayers.

Update on Reece 5/28/25!

She is improving and finally gaining weight! Ashley is still out of work to take care of her, so they are living on a one salary income until she can go back. The doctors are still keeping a close eye on her and praying for continued improvement. Your prayers and support are still asked for. Thank you all again!

Update on Reece 7/17/2025

Reece is Growing! She has finally made it over 8lbs however still behind for her 'age'. She has finally started Physical Therapy to help with her muscle tightness and other issues that have come along with her prematurity. The family is struggling financially and could really use your help! Ashley has been out of work for weeks and is not receiving any benefits because of it. If you are able to help my sister's family out, any little bit will help.
