My sister was diagnosed with invasive carcinoma breast cancer on April 18, 2024. This is the news that nobody every wants to hear. The good news is the prognosis is good and after a few long months of tests, appointments, and waiting a treatment plan is in place. We are very thankful for a nurse practitioner asking when her last mammogram was and getting her scheduled quickly when the answer was never.

April will receive treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. On August 28th, she will have a double mastectomy and begin reconstruction with expanders placed. Recovery will take 4-8 weeks.

April is a cosmetologist and a single mom of Mikayla (18 tomorrow) and Aiden (12). Being out of work for possibly 2 months is daunting for anyone, but especially someone who is self-employed and a single mother.
