Ke aloha nui e nā hoa! Please support our dear friend Anuhea as she battles Stage 2 breast cancer.
Anuhea found out in late Spring 2024 that something of concern was seen on her mammogram. She quickly scheduled appointments to find out what it was and FINALLY got answers after months of waiting for surgery and test results, the lump in her breast was cancel free, however the lymphnode taken from between her armpit and breast is Stage 2 cancer.
We were hopeful that since Anu gets mammograms every 6 months due to an earlier scare that this would NOT be the case. That it would be a quick procedure and move along with life, but things have taken a slight turn. However, Anu is a fighter and will be kicking cancerʻs butt soon. But first she has to do 5 months of chemo: super aggressive bi-weekly “red devil” treatment where they pump her body with toxins to kill it, for @ 2 months, and then continued weekly treatments the following 3 months. The treatments are so toxic she and her husband, Francis, canʻt even share the same bathroom. Anuʻs best bet is to fly to Oʻahu for these treatments.
Of course, they have insurance, but we all know it wonʻt cover everything. Treatment, flights, medications will all start to add up quickly. Francis is figuring out ways to help make up for the loss of income, and if you know him, you know thats a hardworking guy. But as many have dealt with cancer in your own ʻohana, we know this will be a difficult time for him and he will need to be there as much as possible to support her over these next 5 months. Please kōkua with whatever amount you can and most importantly send your pule (or whatever it is you believe in) for health and healing to our warrior friend. We know that there are many friends in the community that would want to do support Anuhea in whatever way they can as she has touched many lives here - as a preschool teacher at Kamehameha Preschool in Waimea and Kohala for many years, as our hula sister, and in many other ways.
Mai ka piko o ke poʻo a ka poli o ka wāwae, a laʻa ma nā kihi ʻehā o ke kino. (ʻŌlelo noʻeau 2066)
From the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, and the four corners of the body. An expression used in prayers of healing.
You can contribute here or send directly to Anuhea at
PS I have no idea how much sheʻll actually need, I just picked an amount, anything helps!
Mahalo for your support and pule! We are full of hope that in 5 months her scan will be good news and can put this behind them! F cancer!
