Andrew’s health journey began when he was 1 year old. Diagnosed in 2015 with stage IV Rhabdomyosarcoma in his head/neck and right femur. After 54 weeks of chemotherapy, 6 surgeries and proton radiation, Andrew was declared cancer-free. For the past 10 years, Andrew has had numerous health challenges. Unfortunately the disease and the cure contributed to Andrew loosing his left eye sight, left hearing, endocrine deficiencies and moya-moya disease.

Andrew’s resilience and perseverance has never stopped. His life is a continuous reminder that despite difficult times, we can still be a light in the darkness.

August 2025 was different. Andrew developed a type of headache that was not normal. And then came the facial pain. Excruciating pain. Trigeminal Neuralgia. There was a reason: a mass was embedded in the trigeminal nerve causing the unbearable pain in Andrew The findings were devastating, unexpected and unwelcome. A biopsy took Andrew to the hospital for a few days and then the news: Andrew had to undergo a craniotomy again. On September 16th, Andrew had a very complex/risky brain surgery to remove as much as the tumor, biopsy it and find out what was invading his brain again.

7 hours later, Andrew made it out of the operating room. However, His brain reacted to everything that was done during surgery and a stroke hit him.

Andrew could not move, he could not speak, he could not even go #1 or #2. He could not even eat or swallow. The left side of his body was closed to paralyzed. The pain from the surgery was really high. High doses of hard core medication. NO signs of recovery. Hardest 72 hours. Nothing compared to before. This time was hitting differently. Harder and more intense. Hell.

Andrew was at the hospital for 25 long days. Unfortunately, Andrew has a new cancer diagnosis: a radiation induced sarcoma (spindle cell sarcoma). The same treatment that he received when he was a toddler, now has become the cause of this secondary cancer.

Andrew is recovering from the stroke and most functions have been restored with some challenges. He is a fighter. “I’ve got this, mom” his last words before entering the operating room that morning.

Treatment this time around is challenging because Andrew was aggressively treated the first time. Doctors initially offered only “palliative” care BUT GOD is saying there’s a “curative” approach to explore.

Andrew will receive more proton radiation therapy in San Diego at Rady Childrens Hospital for two months starting on November 10th to achieve local control. Andrew’s family will be relocating to San Diego to pursue this treatment.

This go-fund me has been set to cover the cost of a specific holistic/natural treatment that along with radiation will give Andrew more tools to help heal his body. No chemo therapy is offered at this time for him. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by insurance.

Thank you for your gift of love! Your generosity means everything to Andrew and his family.
