Join Amy's Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected
Amy Couchman, a loving wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in April. This would be a difficult diagnosis for anyone, but for Amy and her family it is particularly challenging as she lost her mom, Barb to metastatic breast cancer 17 years ago. In February, Amy’s dad, Bob had a devastating climbing accident and spent three months in a rehab center.

Bob on his way to recovery

Amy and her sister, Alison, spent several weeks at Bob’s bedside as he went through multiple surgeries and physical therapy. It was during this time that Amy started having abdomen pain and discomfort but chalked it up to the stress of what was happening with her dad. When her pain became unbearable, her wife Cindy took her to the Emergency Room where a CT scan identified the cancer. On April 18th, she met with one of her two oncologists who confirmed the diagnosis and reviewed the treatment plan. Her doctors are realistically optimistic that the combination of chemo and surgery will be successful.

Amy is a newly self-employed, private practice therapist who was just catching her stride. She helps her clients every week as they face challenges in their lives. Amy’s practice is the primary source of income and because of her illness, the necessary treatments and their side effects, she is not able to work the case load she had prior to the diagnosis. While Amy has medical insurance, she does not have any supplemental insurance to cover ongoing expenses. As Amy and her family fight this battle, they will require financial, emotional and physical support. Their savings has been depleted to cover their annual out of pocket insurance maximums. We are asking that you help us engage in this battle alongside Amy so that she can focus on healing and recovery.

Please join us by contributing to this fundraiser. We know that Amy will require surgery in late June and will be completely off work for at least 6 weeks. The funds will be used to cover future medical expenses and to supplement her loss of income while she is in treatment. We appreciate any donation you can make to be a partner in Amy’s recovery.

You can also follow along on her journey through her Caring Bridge site . Please share this fundraiser with your friends and family, online, through direct messaging and on your socials. Thank you for being a part of Amy’s care team!
