I'm Amber Seyfert. I am 46 years old and this is my journey.
After many tests, scans, biopsies, and many doctor appointments, in October I found out I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC), the most common kind of breast cancer. It is in my left breast and left lymph node. It is Stage 3 due to the size. I do not have any DNA markers for cancer. The course of action we chose is chemotherapy. As some know, a port placement is necessary for easier access and less poking. I had that done on December 11th. I started my first of 4 aggressive chemotherapy treatments on December 16th. These first 4 were every two weeks to allow my body time to recover. Those first 2 rounds were brutal. Getting used to side effects is new. I am able to manage a few with medicine. I finished my last aggressive chemotherapy treatment on January 27th. Those last 2 seemed to go better. I think my body is getting used to the treatments and side effects. Not only are you dealing with nausea and headaches, but the lack of energy, "fatigue," takes a lot of getting used to. I start my first of 12 lesser chemotherapy treatments on February 10th. These will be weekly treatments. Hoping after all treatments, the goal is a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. I have the best family and friends!! Everyone is asking to help in some way. Well, my co-pays, medicines, and other medical bills are piling up. I'm self-employed and have been unable to work since starting treatments. Please understand we are not starving and our normal household bills are paid. We don't have children in the home anymore; they're grown. These funds will be spent on my continued care and occurring medical bills. Ladies, please get your mammogram!!
Thank you!!
