Supporting Chris with Medical Costs

Hi, my name is Amanda Thompson and I have created this page on behalf of my fiancé Christopher (Chris) Hale. I truly appreciate your time for reading his story.

On April 3rd, 2025, Chris came home from work with what he thought was another bad migraine (he had it for nearly a week). On April 4th, he got up and went to work but was still in pain. He had to leave work early due to the pain being unbearable. As the evening went on, the pain increased like no other pain he's ever experienced. I took him to Kettering Hospital in Troy, Ohio. The emergency room doctor ordered a CT scan. That's where they discovered an abnormality in his front right lobe area of his brain. He needed further testing, so he was transferred to Kettering's main campus in Dayton, Ohio.

Once he arrived in Dayton, he underwent blood work and an MRI. That's when it was discovered he had an abscess (but NOT ruling out a tumor) on his brain. The agonizing pain is from the pressure, swelling, and infection caused by this abscess/tumor. This has also caused his blood pressure to go up and made him very nauseous. After the neurosurgeons went over their plan, they decided to go in and remove the abscess/tumor and send it out for testing. This required a big surgery and many days off from work. His surgery was set for April 8th, 2025, at 7:30 am, where they were able to remove an abscess. He is now recovering.

I would like to take this moment to paint a picture of my fiancé. Chris is an outgoing 37-year-old who had been healthy until now. He's a loving fiancé, son, brother, uncle, dad, stepdad, and friend. He doesn't know a stranger and drops everything to help others. He has made many, many friends along the way. He loves fishing, camping, his Steelers, baseball, boating, 4-wheeling in the mud, and cars. He's funny, outgoing, and just fun to be around. He's devoted himself not only to me but to the blended family we share. Between the two of us, we have 6 children. Chris himself has 2 boys and 1 girl. We have become a fantastic, blended family. And on Friday, our whole world was rocked by this devastating news.

We know this will be a long road to recovery, but we at this time don't know what all that details as of now.

I come to you and politely ask you for donations for Chris in his time of need. We know the bills will soon be piling up. The donations will help pay those bills and help offset any bills/medications that will accumulate with his ongoing care. He will definitely be off work for a while. And although I'm still able to work, one paycheck coming in can't possibly cover all his needs. This is the type of devastating news that rocks the whole family and leaves us with so many questions.

I plan on updating this GoFundMe throughout his journey. The good, the bad, and the ups and downs. If you're unable to donate, please say a prayer for him.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Amanda Thompson
And
Chris's entire family.

Just a little bit of an update for everybody, we had a scare on Thursday. Chris was experiencing headaches and when they did a CT scan, they discovered swelling and fluid on his brain. This landed him back in the ICU. They ran some labs and did another MRI. The surgical crew were worried that they may have to open him back up to drain the fluid. They kept him under observation in the ICU to see how he did and if the antibiotics would help take care of things. After another CT today, they discovered the antibiotics are helping and that we are on the right path to be able to come home. They said that the other CT scan might have just been done a little too soon after surgery. He has been moved out of ICU and back to the Neuro unit where we started. If everything goes good, he should be home within the next couple days. Hopefully tomorrow. However, this is still going to be a long healing journey for him. When released he will have a pic line. Through this, he will have a six week anabiotic treatment. He will have to have antibiotics two times a day. Home health will be coming in. We have quite a while before he will be able to return to work and normal activities. I want to thank everyone who has helped and everyone who has reached out to us and sent positive vibes our way. We appreciate everybody so much! Please continue to share this! ❤️
