Hi, my name is Alex. I am a 5-year-old boy who needs your help to receive life-changing therapy. I can’t speak yet. My body is not as strong as my peers—I often fall, and the spoon is quite heavy for me to hold long enough to feed myself. I attend a special school. At 4, I was diagnosed with atypical autism spectrum disorder, and recently, genetic tests confirmed I have SHINE Syndrome. This ultra-rare disorder causes delayed development, intellectual disabilities, weak muscle tone, and epilepsy.
This is a crucial time for my development, and we need to focus on the right therapies and new research. Unfortunately, most of these aren't covered by my parents' insurance, and there are no nearby organizations to help us in Amherst, NH. We aim to continue standard therapies like daily, individual speech and cognitive behavioral therapy with qualified experts. We've also started hyperbaric oxygen therapy to improve my brain function, but to make it successful, I need it daily. We're raising $55,000 to buy a hyperbaric chamber so I can receive this treatment at home.
There's a lot of work ahead, and I ask for your help in this fight for a normal life. With your love and financial support, I believe one day I'll be able to tell you how grateful I am and tell my parents how much I love them! Can you please help me?
