Hi everyone,
My dog Captain isn’t just a pet — he’s my protector, my shadow, and my emotional support through every chapter of life. On April 22nd, he suddenly collapsed and could no longer walk. He cried out in pain and lost control of his body. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where he was hospitalized overnight. After labs, X-rays, fluids, and pain meds, he was seen by a neurologist this morning.
The working diagnosis is a spinal or neurological issue — possibly a slipped disc or meningitis. The neurologist has recommended an MRI to confirm the cause, but I cannot afford the $4,000 imaging fee or potential surgery. I’ve already spent over $2,400 just to get him through the night and stabilize him.
If it’s meningitis or a disc issue, Captain has a real shot at recovery with steroids and rest. But without further care, I may lose him — not because he can’t be saved, but because I can’t afford to save him.
Captain has been with me through heartbreaks, relocations, and raising two teenage sons. He’s gentle, fiercely loyal, and the most intuitive soul I’ve ever known. He’s only 8 years old. He deserves a chance.

What Funds Will Cover:
• MRI and neuro consult: $4,000
• 3-day medical treatment (if no surgery needed): $2,000–$3,500
• Pain meds, steroids, follow-up labs: ~$500
• Any additional treatment or recovery support
Every dollar helps. If you can’t donate, please share. Captain has carried me through so much. Now I’m asking for help to carry him.
Thank you,
Abby
