Help Joi Miner Become America's Next Great Author

Hey y'all!

For as long as I can remember, I've loved words, writing, and books. So much so that I have, for the past 20 years, been using my writing and speaking to both motivate and entertain. I've always taken small steps towards my dreams, mostly because I've been raising little ones and their stability was and is more important than me chasing my dreams full-on. Especially being that I was a single mother.

Then two years ago, I suffered a brain aneurysm rupture, that caused a stroke, and had to undergo emergency neurosurgery. This was the third time I'd almost died in 6 years.

After my surgery, I couldn't walk, suffered severe cognitive issues and still struggle with short-term memory loss and other "invisible to the eye" symptoms. What I never lost, was the ability to write stories. That was my reality call. Tomorrow is not promised, and I couldn't cheat myself out of my dreams. So, I started taking larger steps in the direction of my passions.

Last month, I took a leap. I submitted a pitch to a reality TV show in the works, America's Next Great Author. The show is a blend of American Idol and Big Brother, for authors.

AND... MY PITCH WAS CHOSEN!

I was one of 100 chosen from at least a thousand pitches from around the USA!!!

When I told my youngest, Phoenix, she said, "We did it, Mommy! WE made it to the show!" That only affirmed the necessity of living my dreams. My daughters are watching. How cool and real is that?

I know some of you are reading this and saying, well, where do we come in, right? Lol.

Well, this is such a last-minute thing that I need your help to get there. The next step is traveling to Newark, New Jersey on October 30th (my birthday weekend) for the Semifinals and the filming of the Pilot of the show. If (when) I win, I will have to stay over another day, on the 31st (my birthday), for additional filming.

What a birthday gift, huh? Now you have two reasons to give/support?

I'm asking for your help in getting there. The expenses, flight, room and board, food, etc., are unexpected, and because I still have bills to pay and a little one to care for, I can't do it alone. Any help will be appreciated. I have always had so many dope supporters, and am hoping that you're just as excited about this rare opportunity as I am!
