ABOUT JOHN

John Teske
is one of the greatest men I know. He is the hard working, all-american farmer that everyone knows and loves, working day in and day out. He is a devoted family man to his wife (Suzy) and set of two sons and daughters (Jordan, Jacob, Jaidyn, and Abigail). His involvement in the community and church activities make him a well known individual in Eldora, Iowa, where he was born and raised. John is a good man, and I'm proud to call him Dad.

This last summer, I had a conversation whilst driving with John, about 'altruism'. Altruism is essentially the philosophy of giving selflessly, without rewards, be it physical or intrinsic. Motivation and 'true intent' is difficult to specifically distinguish sometimes, and thus makes it difficult to discern what is 'altruistic' and what is not. I have always lived by this virtue, to be as selfless as possible. As I drove down the highway talking with John that day, I finally understood why it meant so much to me...

I wanted to be just like him. John is the most selfless man I know, in all aspects of his life. Through his strength in Christ, I have seen this man give more of himself than should be humanly possible, without ever wanting anything in return. John loves and gives unconditionally, which is a true testament to his character. John Teske is as altruistic as a person can get.

This winter, John was unfortunately diagnosed with Colon Cancer.

As devastating as this news comes, John's character has built him ready for this. He is persistent and determined to beat this thing, and to continue his life going only forward, for his family.

All I know is that I want to give back to the man who has done so much for me. John is my step-father, and has never asked anything from me, and has done so much. He is a very selfless person, and often, I feel he gets little in return.

Now is the time to give back to John.

TREATMENT AND COST

As we all know, chemotherapy is an expensive treatment. As a family, this is all very new to us, and we don't know too much about treatment. The money raised by crowd-funding will be used to help my family pay for John's treatment, as well as allowing my parents to raise the kids without any financial problems. I know John's working habits all too well, and since he works almost 18 hours daily, this adjustment from 'working all the time' to 'not working at all' will be a drastic change in environment. He runs a farm with his family, and is often the one steering the ship and making crucial business decisions. This diagnosis will definitely affect his ability to work, however, I'm hoping funds from this 'Gofundme' will help cover some of that cost since he may sometimes be too sick to work.

All I want is for him to rest, and spend his energy solely on getting better, not worrying about whether or not he can put food on the table or provide for his family. I would like to see John and the rest of my family in Iowa not have to go through the financial hardship that cancer creates.

HOW TO HELP

The average mean cost for a patient with medicare diagnosed with colon cancer is roughly $30,000.  I obviously would like to cover as much as humanly possible for the treatment, so for now, I set the goal to $10,000, in hopes to exceed that goal. I plan on setting up as many charitable events for John as possible. I am currently living in California, so seeing my family will not occur as often as I like. However, I am doing what I can by raising funds to help John and the rest of my family. If you want to make a difference, please contact me on facebook or text/call me at 641-858-6584.

Every little bit helps, and I would love if you could share this with as many people that you know!!!

Altruism is rarely an opportunity experienced. Giving selflessly is a characteristic best learned by having it done unto you. I want to give back to John the unconditional love and support he has always given me and many of you reading this.

Please help me help this awesome dad, husband, and human being.

Thank you all so much,

Jordan
