John's Lift Assist wheelchair

My name is John R. Lindsay, and I am a 54-year-old disabled man who was born with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele, which is a congenital birth defect of the spine that left me partially paralyzed. I was born at Rochester Memorial in New York where there were 28 other babies born with Spina Bifida back in 1963 and I was the only one that left the hospital alive! I am a full time wheelchair user. I am also a registered veterinary technician (RVT) which is the same as a registered nurse only I work with animals. I earned my AS degree in Veterinary Technology in 2012 from Los Angeles Pierce College, and I currently work at Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital in Thousand Oaks California. I have not yet met another RVT that uses a wheelchair for everyday use. I am working very hard to get off of disability and stay off; but I need your help because to do my job fully without any limitations I desperately need a very special wheelchair called a Lift Assist wheelchair. Unfortunately, this wheelchair isn't covered by any health insurance because they consider it to be a "luxury". How can my being able to fully access my cupboards and other high areas and be able to continue working full time be considered a luxury? So the only way I am able to have full access to my home and continue to work and do my job as an RVT fully is if I can acquire one of these wonderful wheelchairs. Please help me by contributing to my continued success!
So let me tell you all about this Lift Assist wheelchair! It is a wonderful, revolutionary wheelchair that to my knowledge is the only one of its kind. The seat elevates to various heights to give me access to various things that would otherwise be out of my reach.
This wheelchair will safely raise me up to a level higher than that of most standing persons. The elevation range is 22 -1/2 inches up from a standard 18-inch seat height. This will raise me up well over 6 feet and anywhere between! This wheelchair will help me by getting me up to the exact height and level of the treatment tables at work so I can work with the animals, and will even give me access to high shelves. The money you so generously give will be used to purchase this custom made wheelchair.
Although there is no set deadline for purchasing this wheelchair, I need the money as soon as possible so I can have no limitations at work and secure my employment. This means so very much to me! To be able to keep my new job and to do all the tasks of a registered veterinary technician is very important to me. I will be so grateful for your help! There is a saying that if you give a man a fish he eats for a day; if you teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime. In helping me to acquire this wheelchair you will be helping me to not only get off disability, but to stay off and remain a working, taxpaying citizen. You will be helping me to be totally self – sufficient and independent at home and at work!
So to explain why I am asking for $20,000, I need to cover the $15.000 for the wheelchair itself, miscellaneous adjustments required for my specialized job, California sales tax, Transportation to Arizona to custom fit for the wheelchair and another trip pick up the wheelchair and bring it back home.
