My name is John Schulz and I have a skin disorder called Psoriasis. I have also developed Psoriatic Arthritis and without getting treatment in time I could end up with permanant joint damage. My skin is so bad that I may start developing Erythroderma where it covers 90% of my body and can cause many other serious issues.
I am currently without insurance until Feburary and my doctors visits, blood tests, TB testing and the drugs I need are limiting what I can do. I am asking for help so I can start the blood tests and get the shots I need. Humira is an injection I take 2 times a month and without insurance it costs $1800-$2200 a month.
I have been taking days off and being sent home due to the pain, itching, bleeding from my skin and it is extremely depressing. Every where I walk, or sit, or work i am leaving a trail of skin flakes and I am constantly doing laundry and buying new sheets and t-shirts due to the cracking and bleeding skin. My awesome, amazing wife has been putting up with this and having to vaccum daily, help me into and out of bed, sometimes even out of the car. I can't imagine how she feels inside about this but I should be one to care for her when she is ill or hurt, not the other way around.
Everyone who knows me knows that I am normally a very active person. Out skateboarding, doing photography, videography, hiking, sightseeing and just being a very outgoing person. I have been very limited in my mobility due to the pain in my joints and just look of my skin to people too afraid to approach me and looking at me weird.
Any help with this would be very much appreciated and would keep me from being out of work, get me back into an active lifestyle, help me loose the 40lbs I have gained from this disease and get my life back on track. Humira could work within 2 months and waiting 3 months for insurance i just can't fathom. The photos on here are just from the last 40 days. I was completely clear on October 1st.
