Thank you to everyone who has reached out since John's passing on January 2nd. The overwhelming amount of love and support has blown all of us away. Over the last couple of weeks, many people have offered their support and have asked me if there was anything they could do to help. After talking it over with my kids and a few people that I trust, I have found a way for people to support us and honor John at the same time.
The photos included in this post are of John's final project. He was building a radical 1927 Model T Roadster with the help of his kids. John knew that this would be his final project and was so proud of how it was coming together. John had the car together and running great last year and was at the point at which he needed to disassemble the car to send parts off to be painted. Shortly after taking the car and motor apart, is when John got sick and went to the hospital. You all know the story from there.
We have decided to complete the rebuild to honor John. We don't have the skills or knowledge that he had when it came to cars, so we are going to be sending the car off to a local restoration shop to complete the build. I hesitate to ask but as my kids reminded me, cars were how John connected with the people around him and what better way for people to show their support than by helping him finish his final project? In lieu of flowers or gifts, I'd like to give people the opportunity to contribute toward his final project. If you do not want to use GoFundMe, and you're planning on attending the memorial service, there will be a Zelle QR code. Thank you all! We love you.
