John's Rehabilitation

I'm helping my Momma and John raise money to focus on getting John healed quickly and to ease the burden of loss of wages during this time.

 

During a small vacation to Sand Lakes, John's quad seized up and caused him to flip into the ocean. He was knocked unconscious and bystanders were able to help while my mom kept his head out of the water. He was then airlifted to Portland Emanuel hospital where he has been since September 3rd. He has had two surgeries- one on his shattered elbow and the other on his leg that was broken in 10 places. He also has suffered a fractured neck.

 

We are currently unsure of when he will be released from the hospital and my mom has been unable to accompany him. (He now has his phone, but hasn't mastered the one handed texting just yet :D)

 

During this time they have had family and friends build a wheelchair ramp at their house, medical supplies and a wheelchair have been donated to help John get as comfortable as possible once he is finally able to come home. My brother and Norman helped my mom pack up their camp and get the RV back to Olympia. My mom has been busy rearranging the home to be wheelchair accessible. (Thank you to those who have given selflessly to help out already.)

 

My mom will be off work as long as she can to help take care of John and take him to and from physical therapy. John had just started work back for 3 weeks following the loss of work due to the pandemic. This has made things challenging and I'm hoping we can all come together as a community to help with medical bills, loss of wages and anything else they might need to make this process as quick as possible.
