John's Lypoma Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jillianne, I have a 17 year old son named John and we need help....when John was around 7 years old, we found a growth on his back that was approximately the shape of a football. Upon talking to the pediatrician we were told it was a Lypoma (fatty tissue) and that it would continue to grow but if it was not physically bothering him it was best to leave it alone. We have tried for ten years to find someone willing to remove said Lypoma, his dermatologist sent him to see a plastic surgeon finally at 17. He had his first surgery on May the 12th, it went okay however there were some complications. He had a mild allergic reaction to a medication given in the OR that caused enough swelling he couldn't open his eyes after surgery, and there were some burns on his back from surgical instruments that I was informed about after surgery and told they may be more difficult to heal than the actual incision. The Lypoma itself was extremely large (15cm wide and taller than it was wide) I was told balled up it was the size of a basketball, that being said I was told they did not place a drain because they wanted to make things easier on us at home. By May 16th I was back at the surgeons office with John because of fluid building up in the open space in his back, the drained 187 ml of fluid that day and another 150 on the 18th, at that time they made a hole and placed packing in it so that it would drain, and we have been unpacking and repacking it once or twice a day. There has been significant lose on blood supply to the skin which has cause a significant amount of dying tissue around and under his incision, and around the burn that was the worst. We started wet to dry dressing changes on the dying tissue a week ago, the wound and incision line are now "falling apart" was the phrase used in the pediatric emergency department on June 5th and that he now needs another surgery to remove the dead tissue which will leave a significantly large open wound after surgery. I'm asking for any help that people can offer at this point, I work at Cypress Glen, and run Lyft and clean some houses on the side, however I've had to take multiple days off from Cypress to take him to appointments and surgery, and since surgery I've had to call out multiple days a week because of post surgical complications. Now I need to take more days off for the new surgery, and they have not been enough hours in a day to do my personal clients or run Lyft to make up the difference. I'm currently the only financial support at my home so between gas prices, the back and forth, the medical supplies needed for his wound care, the bills are mounting and starting to fall behind. I don't normally ask for help I've always tried to be strong and handle things on my own, but at the rate we are going, by the time this is over we will have nothing left. So every little bit will help there is no donation that is to small, the money is needed for medical supplies not covered by his insurance, gas to get him back and forth to appointments and the next surgery, and to try to catch the bills up so I don't lose my transportation or utilities while I'm trying to take care of my son. Thank you in advance to anyone willing and able too help you will never know or understand what it means to both of us. I'm going to attach pictures fair warning if you do not have a strong stomach I would not look at them they are graphic but need to be seen
That is the progression over the last month he will be seen and scheduled for another surgery this afternoon and will have a revision surgery done in a year I'm grateful for your time and any help that anyone is willing to give at this point I don't know what else to do
