Running My Final Backyard Ultra for a Cause Close to My Heart – The Portland Pig 2026… Are you Ready For Me!
On 1st May, I will be taking on my final ever Backyard Ultra at The Portland Pig in Dorset — and, as always, I am doing it for a charity that means a great deal to myself and my family, Bowel Cancer West.
For years, Bowel Cancer West has been a cause very close to my heart. Through the incredible work they do supporting patients, families and funding vital services across the South West, they make a real difference to people facing one of life’s toughest challenges.
The Backyard Ultra is no ordinary race. Runners must complete a 4.167 mile loop every hour, on the hour, continuing for as long as they physically can. When the hour starts again, you go again. And again... And again. The race only ends when just one runner remains.
It’s a brutal test of endurance, resilience and determination — and on 1st May, I will be pushing myself to the limit one last time to raise as much money as possible for this incredible charity.
Every mile I run will be for Bowel Cancer West and the people they support.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world and will help support the vital work they do.
Thank you so much for your support.
John
