John's Helping Hands
Donation protected
My name is Erika Ganey and I am the proud sister of John Cleaveland. John lives in Austin, Texas, grew up in Dripping Springs, Texas, and graduated from Dripping Springs High School. For those of you that know John, know what a special human being he is and the many things he has done for others. Ever since he was a young child, he has always been so giving, selfless and humble.
On Thursday, he was rushed to the hospital because of seizure-like symptoms. We later found out they found a golf ball size tumor in his brain. At this point, they believe it to be non-cancerous, but doctors feel emergency surgery for its biopsy and removal is critical and necessary. Unfortunately, the surgery will require months of rehab that will prevent him from operating his barbershops that employ many good people and service many in our community. I humbly ask you to consider contributing to help with the mounting medical costs and share this page with others. This is our chance to help him as he has done for so many others throughout the years. The doctors say his recovery will be slow. The money will be used for his medical expenses and to assist with the operating costs that the "Skinny's Barber Shops" will incur in his absence.
When I say John is a giving, selfless and humble person, here are some heartening examples of what he has done for others and the charities he has been involved in:
• John is a loyal volunteer at Meals on Wheels.
• A volunteer for many years with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Austin.
• Supports and donates often to Sunset Valley Elementary.
• Volunteers countless hours using his barbering skills to give free haircuts to the disabled, homeless, and elderly.
• Created a Go Fund Me page for fellow barbers during the pandemic.
• Gives free haircuts for Back to School at The Methodist Church in Dripping Springs.
Note: These are just a few of the activities that we are aware of, but hear there are many more.
Thank you for taking the time to read this appeal for help. And please continue to pray for him, our family, and the medical personnel involved. If a contribution is not possible, know your prayers are greatly appreciated.
At this time, I ask that you please respect our privacy and refrain from calling him.
Much gratitude, John's proud sis,
Erika Ganey
