This is my dad, John Hart. Those of you who know him know he is a man of God and a man of many words (haha!). He has a heart of gold and is such a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. John has not been able to work since early November due to getting COVID-19. Following that, he was in and out of multiple hospitals, trying to identify the cause of his critically low blood counts. After numerous tests, blood transfusions, and two bone marrow biopsies he has been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) – a bone marrow/blood cancer.
John is now at Barnes Jewish Hospital in downtown St. Louis receiving chemotherapy and in need of a bone marrow transplant. He is considered “high risk” with his disease progression. He has been in the car sales industry for nearly 40 years, a career that is mostly commission-based. As you can imagine, medical and other bills are piling up, yet income is lacking.
Being kept alive by multiple blood transfusions each day for weeks has been a terrifying feeling for all of us. John and our family are beyond grateful for the love and support we have received. We are thankful for the amazing care from the Barnes Jewish staff as well as for every person who has donated the blood and plasma that is keeping my dad alive.
We will continue to put our faith in God and are incredibly thankful for prayers, positive thoughts, and any amount of monetary donations. All donations will be given to my mom (Jan) to use for bills, transportation and any other needs.
My dad, who also conquered colon cancer 14 years ago, thanks you all from the bottom of his heart for being a part of his journey as he fights like never before! God Bless.
Thank you from all of us!
