Johns Battle Against Glioma

Around two months ago, our father began experiencing symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and double vision. Despite multiple visits to urgent care and the hospital, he was repeatedly diagnosed with vertigo and advised to wait it out. It wasn't until about a month and a half ago when he insisted on further investigation at Abrazo. There, he underwent numerous tests including MRIs, CT scans, and spinal taps, yet little information was provided about the cause of his symptoms.

On March 30th, he was transferred to Mayo Clinic where additional scans revealed lesions on his brain stem and cerebellum. Given their location and size, we decided to wait two weeks to monitor any changes before proceeding with a biopsy. However, his condition deteriorated, prompting another MRI which showed growth in the cerebellum lesion. On April 15th, the biopsy confirmed glioma, though the grade remained undetermined.

Nearly two weeks later, we are still awaiting answers regarding the glioma's grade. On May 2nd, his oxygen levels plummeted, requiring intensive care and 100% oxygen support. Despite efforts, complications like excessive phlegm and potential pneumonia arose. Faced with the decision to intubate or provide comfort care, we honored his wishes and opted for the latter.

The uncertainty of life without our father weighs heavily on us, compounded by the financial strain of medical bills and accommodation expenses near the hospital.
