As many of you already knew, John was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in February. While waiting for surgery to have it removed, he began having pain in his abdomen. After CT scans, a bone scan, an MRI, three biopsies, and finally a PET scan, Mayo diagnosed him with a second, unrelated neuroendocrine cancer in several lymph nodes and at least a few vertebrae. The only good news is that it isn't in any major organs yet. He has since undergone a week of radiation targeting the tumors in his spine, and 3 rounds of intense chemotherapy with more to come. Doctors seem to think that it may take a miracle or luck, depending on your beliefs, to make it more than a couple of years so your prayers are greatly appreciated.
Through all of this, he still wants to complete his life-long bucket list, which has one remaining item - visiting Peru and Machu Picchu with his daughter Jenna. Flights are expensive, and we don't want finances to hold him back from having this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
