John “Johnny” Malek passed away from a heart attack on Monday, August 8, 2022 in Wellington, Florida surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 66 years old. John was born on January 9, 1956 in Beirut, Lebanon.

John left his home country of Lebanon in the late 1970’s to escape war in an effort to create a better life for his family and himself. He lived briefly in Greece before immigrating to the United States, landing in Chicago where he would work and go on to meet his loving wife, Yola. Over the next few years, John and Yola birthed two beautiful children, Wilson and Michelle. John and his family have lived in South Florida for the last 27 years where he enjoyed the sunshine, strawberry picking, the occasional trip to the casino and most importantly, quality time together.

John was one of the most selfless individuals that anyone could know. He was always so quick to help others and always made sure that everyone would feel welcomed in his presence. His pride and persistence were the driving force behind his resilience. He came to this country with no money and worked so hard to be the sole provider for his family. For the last 25 years, John worked at NCCI Holdings. He was so proud of everything he and his wife Yola worked for and built, and would take great care of his home, his cars and most importantly to him, his family.

John had such a great energy and enthusiasm for life. He would use the most colorful and descriptive language to talk about the world around him, and found great joy in spending time with family, having a good meal (especially dessert), watching a movie, seeing new places, and so much more. He had an amazing sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. John kept his warm heart and smile through his battle with cancer, which he beat, and an invasive and difficult neck surgery due to him slowly becoming paralyzed. With John’s love for life and support from his family, nothing was going to get him down.

John is remembered most immediately by his wife Yola, his son Wilson and his daughter Michelle, but was loved and will be remembered by so many more.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated in helping to support John’s family during this time. Thank you in advance from his family and loved ones from the bottom of their hearts.
