Fundraiser Title: Donate to Help Johnny Mac While He Recovers From Major Surgery

Story: In December 2024/January 2025, John was experiencing pain in his lower left abdomen. At that time, he was enthusiastically preparing for the UPS (Umpire Placement Course) training camp in Florida, with hopes of elevating his umpiring career to the Northern League of baseball. He brushed the pain off as an abdominal strain and went to the training camp.

While in Florida, the pain escalated and a CT scan determined that John was suffering from a severe case of complicated diverticulitis and had an abscess in his colon the size of a baseball.

Upon returning to Minnesota, John was immediately hospitalized for seven days at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where the medical staff aggressively treated his illness with IV antibiotics.

Fast forward to today....Since the initial diagnosis, John has been hospitalized six times and an additional, second abscess had formed. The original goal was to treat the disease with antibiotics and he had two inserted drains in his belly to remove the infected fluids daily, all with the hope that it would heal. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened and the disease required major surgery on August 5th to remove about 12 inches of John's sigmoid colon.

Over the past six months, the disease has kept John from umpiring and has greatly set him back in his other employment responsibilities. During his recovery time from surgery, he will be restricted from lifting more than five pounds and will not be able to work for up to two months.

We're collecting funds on behalf of John to help ease the resulting financial stress from medical bills and living expenses.
