Help Johnnie Tackle Blood Cancer

Donation protected
I thought to myself… this cannot happen to this amazing family again. I have got to help!  With one phone call made, it was decided that we MUST start this campaign.

October 2014, it seemed as if the world stopped again for the Johnnie  & Kathi Goddard. The Goddard family has already lived through one tragedy; they cannot experience another heartbreak!
First they lost there eldest son Jonathan, a standout football star at Marshall University as well as a former member of the Indianapolis Colts from 2005 to 2008, in a tragic motorcycle accident back in 2008 to now Johnnie being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. This family not only needs a break, but prayers and good ol’ luck on their side!

Big Johnnie as most refer to him as was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a type of blood cancer that affects the Bone Marrow!  Currently, there is NO CURE but there are a lot of studies out there where there is some HOPE!

Johnnie has always been a fighter and he will continue to fight this battle as well!  Monday April 27th, he will start his first of four rounds of chemotherapy followed by a allogeneic bone marrow transplant, once a match is found.
Johnnie was finally accepted into the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Division in Houston TX and will travel back and forth from his hometown of Jacksonville, FL to Houston TX for his chemo treatments until a Bone Marrow transplant is found.  Currently Johnnie does not have a match yet but he is hopeful that a family member will hopefully be a match!

Because of the risk from the transplant and the body rejecting it, he will be in the hospital for 30 days in isolation. After the first 30 days he will have to move into an apartment within 30 minutes from the MD Anderson hospital because the chance of something going wrong and him needing to be back in the hospital is high. During these 3 months someone must be with him every hour of every day.

Johnnie is now on a work leave, which will eventually turn into unpaid, while his wife Kathi continues to work full time in Jacksonville FL, raise there 2 kids, handling the daily tasks of being a mom and grandmother, as well as be with Johnnie in Houston as much as she can.

The Goddard’s are in need of funds to help their uphill battle over the next few months. Not only will they need assistance with funds for medical costs that are not covered, they will also need assistance with medical drugs, copay’s for the never-ending cost of someone living with un-curable cancer; a full time caregiver to watch over Johnnie when Kathi and her family cannot be there, paying for a short term rental while in Houston for those 3 months or so, travel fees back and forth from Houston, TX, rental car, and all those little items that we never think about that will come up at some point.

All money raised will go directly to Johnnie and his fight against this disease! The Goddard’s have never asked for help but I feel it is our duty and obligation to step up and help a well-deserved family. Let’s not let this family have to go through this alone, please help and support them by donating..

No matter what the donation is, big or small, this family well deserves it and our truly appreciative.
