I'm writing this Gofundme on behalf of someone very near and dear to not only my heart but I'm sure thousands in our community.
This past Friday, December 4th, 2015, Johnna was at work when she suddenly collapsed. After being rushed to the Marian Medical Center and extensive testing, 5 neurologist and dozens of other doctors have concluded that Johnna suffered from a very rare spinal stroke.
She has no feeling in her legs and has been in a lot of pain. Her wife Micaela, and daughter Shaelah have been by her side since. Today, she was just transferred to Stanford University for more in depth testing to evaluate the damage, prognosis and treatment plan.
Needless to say, the extensive medical treatment already given and ongoing treatment to get Johnna walking again as well as the cost for her family to be away from work and stay close to her will be pretty substantial. Micaela will be off of work to travel to Stanford, stay with Johnna and faciliate her recovery when she does return home, we have no idea how long the stay at Stanford will be or what the treatment will entail, which means that they will have zero income during this very difficult time.
This Gofundme is to help raise funds for housing, treatment (Johnna is currently without medical insurance) and possible need to relocate locally when she returns into a downstairs housing unit.
We will be donating as we can to help support Johnna and her family through this difficult time and we hope all that know her are willing to contribute as well. Even $20 can buy a meal, $100 can be gas/transportation to and from, $500 a few nights stay, $1,000 treatment and housing...anything will help.
