John Drowne was a quiet man who passed away suddenly on November 26th while doing yard work.  His life was taken far too quickly but he passed on his own terms, working on his land and doing what he loved.

John was born and raised in Hopkinton and lived his entire life in his hometown.  He spent his free time lovingly tending to his garden and for years he supplied his neighbors as well as the local grocery store, Colellas, with fresh veggies and seasonal produce.  Some may remember in recent months visiting his farm stand on Saddle Hill Road, where he sold fresh produce to many local residents. 

He was an avid family man whose pride and joy were his daughters Lizzy and Jess and his two granddaughters Lilly and Ella.  He spent all his spare time with his girls who loved him dearly. 

He was beloved by all who knew him and his quiet generosity was appreciated by so many.  He was a man of few words but his hardwork, patience, and simple daily life were something to be admired. 

John was dedicated to his family and for decades worked with his brother Larry at the familys' pig farm. He spent the last 13 years of his life working with his nephew Rick at T&M Landscaping.  He also worked for Moisture Systems in Hopkinton as well as Label ID in Hopedale and Market Basket in Bellingham.   

He was a quiet humble man who loved hunting, country music, and would often sing and whistle while he worked on his land.  He loved watching old westerns from his favorite chair, and talking to his chickens each morning while feeding them. 
  
 His spirit and presence will be deeply missed throughout his family and community.  May his kind, gentle soul rest peacefully now as we remember the man who may not have had much to give but would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.

As you can imagine, the family is grieving right now and the last thing we want them to worry about is finances.
