John Aaron Relief
Donation protected
John Aaron is part of our family and we love him. He is desperate for help. John was hit by a stray bullet that was shot from a AK rifle in a altercation that took place in Flint, Michigan over 3 years ago. He was left bleeding on the street never knowing what hit him or why. He was not involved in the altercation nor was he implicated in the shooting other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He sustained a severed colon, lost a third of his liver and suffered extensive trauma to his all of his internal organs. He was transfused with over 20 pints of blood and coded multiple times. He was in a induced coma for a month. The excellent team at Hurley Medical Center in Flint performed over 10 surgical procedures over 10 months of time to divert his bowel and eventually resected his colon in 6 places. Damage to his spinal cord from the bullet resulted in very severe, foot drop (paralysis of his feet). He is in excruciating pain in his feet every day. He also suffers from severe depression and PTSD. Me and my husband have been supporting his effort to get well for the past 3 years. We have opened our hearts and our home to him. Up to this point we have used all of our own funds with help from our immediate family. The cost has run into thousands of dollars. John has been turned down by disability twice. He is currently living in our home. He has a wonderful work ethic and a deep desire to become independent. Just today he started a new job that my husband was able to help him to get. He has also been doing food delivery for a local fast food chain. Unfortunately, after 7 hours of work the pain in his feet was so intense that he had to leave early and returned home where he broke down feeling defeated. Today alone his medication cost was 80.00. These expenses happen daily. He has visited the ER four times in the last two months. His immediate need is for medication, doctors care, housing, food, proper clothing, special shoes and reliable transportation. We are currently paying for auto insurance on a very unreliable vehicle. We are also paying for all of his other needs. We have simply run out of our own resources. He insists that he will return to work tomorrow to try again and we know he will. He never quits trying. He is a great young man who shares our deep faith in God. He is in desperate need of help. Those of you who know us, know our hearts. You have watched our journey and will understand how difficult it is for us to come to this point. You also know that we have exhausted every resource we could to find help. If you are comfortable with it, please share this account often over the next month with all of your friends and colleagues and join us in our effort to help John.
