My name is Alexandria Johnson and as some of you may know my younger brother JOHN JOHNSON, 20 years old, was shot 8 times on Aug. 24, 2020 at approximately 12:00 PM on the east side of Chicago.
My little brother is my world and I do not know what I would do without him. John has an unforgettable personality and has touched so many lives. His life experiences along with people that cared about him and showed him love made him the man he is today. Despite the grim nature of this tragedy, my brother has shown so much courage, strength and he has been the most positive. John told me “What kept me fighting for my life is all of my family and friends that I would have disappointed had I let go. I fought for all of you.” John has always put everyone else’s needs before his own, and he knows that his family and friends need him. I thank God that my little brother is still here with us.
It will take time and much needed resources to assist him while we nurture him back to same young man, we all know. One of the 8 bullets that hit John struck his spine. Even though the worst part is over he still has a long uphill battle with his injuries and physical therapy. My brother knew his family needed him and now, more than ever he needs us. I also want to provide him with a safer living environment where he can continue to have better days ahead.
On behalf of our family and friends we are thankful for whomever is willing to support in any way. We are most appreciative of the love and prayers that he has received. I will do my best to keep everyone updated as he continues his battle.
