Hi, I’m John and if you are reading this update I would like to say an huge thank you for all of your support so far on my journey.

I am a Local, National and International Water Polo Athlete looking for your help.

I have worked incredibly hard over the last few years and love my sport so much that I am now playing for age groups ranging from U16s up to Senior Men for my local club Dunfermline, Nationally for Caledonia Water Polo and Internationally for Scotland Junior National Teams.

This year will see me travel far and wide domestically and internationally to compete in various tournaments and training camps.

Here’s a few highlights from the past few months…

I Captained Caledonia U15s to Bronze medal placing at National Age Grade Championships.

I made my debut for Caledonia Storm Men in British Water Polo Conference League.

I Captained Scotland U16s to Bronze medal placing at Swim England Inter-Regions Tournament finishing as top goal scorer.

I was selected for Scotland Under 18 team to go on a week long training camp in April to Berlin playing teams for Germany and Belgium.

In August - I travelled to the Be Water My Friend (BWMF) Cup Tournament in SPAIN as Captain of Scotland U16s. On return

I appeared in two international games for Scotland U18s vs Denmark at the BMC Cup Tournament held in his home pool of Carnegie.

This was then followed by a trips to Coventry for GB Trials (which was an amazing learning experience and will certainly help me when it is my own age groups turn) and Walsall with the Caledonia Boys to kick off the Junior Conference League.

Attention then swiftly turned to a 5 day training camp in Athens at the end of September with my Scotland U18s teammates - with the aim of preparing for the upcoming EU Nations tournament.

All the hard work and dedication over the past year has paid off with THIS WEEKS confirmation that I was selected for the Scotland U18s squad for the EU Nations tournament which will be held in Brno, Czechia in November.

From Peter and Gillian - It is fantastic achievement for John to get selected for this high level tournament, which is effectively two years above his own age group. We are really proud of him to keep digging in and trying his best. He made a hard choice to step away from rugby and his teammates there to focus on his polo and he is doing really well. He is always listening to coaches feedback and working hard on his game.

With Water Polo still being a developing sport in Scotland, all of the events and trips for the various representative teams are self-funded and John is looking for as much support as he can to continue his dream of representing Scotland at the next Commonwealth Youth Games being held in Malta in 2027!
