Next week, John Webb will be undergoing a below the knee amputation of his right leg. The Webb family would deeply appreciate your love and support. Please pray for the Webb’s and consider giving a donation to help alleviate the financial burden on their family at this time. God Bless You.
A note from Jenny-
It has always been John's dream to own his own land in the mountains and to build a home for his family. Last May, not only did we celebrate 25 years of marriage, we decided to take the plunge and pursue John’s dream for our family. So, we sold our house in Texas, packed up our 3 boys and grandson; and leaving behind family and friends, we headed to West Virginia.
Our plan was to live with John's father in West Virginia for a bit while looking for that dream land in Tennessee. The day before Father’s day and 2 weeks before the closing date on our new land, everything changed. While John was helping his dad by trimming some tree limbs, he had a terrible fall from over 20 ft. He suffered massive injuries including an open fracture of both his tibia and fibula and devastating damage to his ankle.
Since I became legally blind in 2010 and had to give up driving and working, we have been very dependent on John, so besides the emotional strain, John’s accident has been on our family, having our primary breadwinner out of commission is catastrophic. It has been eight months now since the accident, John has undergone 6 surgeries and treatment for a very rare fungal infection from the soil that was in his open fracture. By God’s grace, this past January, we made it to Tennessee to our land and moved into our small, manufactured home. Two of our boys have found jobs and are helping try to keep us from sinking further financially. We believed we had turned the corner on this trial and were finally headed in the right direction since John’s last surgery (an ankle fusion in October), he seemed to be healing and even began looking forward to recovery and the return to work. John was so excited to be able to finally start trying to walk and to get back to some sort of new normal.
After our visit last week to get an external fixator off that he has had on for 4 months, it turns out John is still not healing. He now has two bacterial infections in his bone. Next week, John will be having a below-the-knee amputation. He is staying mostly positive that this will help him to finally move forward. However, it is another 3 to 4 months of recovery and not being able to do the one thing he wants to do most…support his family. Those who know John know he would give the shirt off his back to anyone and never ask for something back. Between the move to Tennessee by way of West Virginia as well as the expenses we have incurred for John’s treatments, we have exhausted our savings, and we don't know yet how much more John’s surgery, treatments and rehabilitation are going to cost—we do know the financial burden is more that we can bear.
As we approach the most difficult part of this trial, the last thing I want John to worry about is how he will be able to take care of us. My plea goes out to our friends and family, and I am asking for your help. I ask on behalf of my husband, my children, and my grandson; we would be so grateful for any amount of help you may feel led to give.
