The John Wayne Gacy Murders Mini Series
Welcome to my fundraiser for the production of my 5th documentary project, The John Wayne Gacy Murders: Life and Death in Chicago. This project has blossomed from a feature length documentary film to a Mini Series of approximately 6 hours in length. Production began in the summer of 2019 and the Pandemic placed a slight pause on production. The Mini Series is now slated for completion in 2023. The film is a highly detailed, historic look at the Gacy case, concentrating on important Chicago areas related to the case and also ties the past into the current ongoing investigation by the Cook County Sheriffs Office to identify the unidentified victims of Gacy.
FINAL PRODUCTIONS FUNDS NEEDED
Since this fundraiser began in June 28 of 2019, on a budget of less than $7,000 raised, I, John Borowski- filmmaker, have researched the case thoroughly and interviewed case experts who were key players in the Gacy case including: Cook County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Jason Moran, Prosecutor Bill Kunkle, Former Des Plaines Detectives Dave Hachmeister & Mike Albrecht, Channel 2 news reporter Walter Jacobson, Attorney Karen Conti, Orthodontist Dr. Pavlik, Prosecutor David Dutton, Steve Giannangelo and many others. I have traveled to and filmed in/at Waterloo Iowa, Anamosa State Penitentiary, Menard Corrections Center, Stateville Correctional Center, Gacy's Childhood home, and other locations across the Chicagoland area.

There has been an outpouring of support from fans who have helped in so many ways and it is very appreciated. In addition, I have sold many of my personal belongings from my collection to fund the film. I have done much so far on a very limited budget, BUT now the time has come to take a realistic look at what final funds are needed to complete this epic film. To complete the Mini Series properly and on time, I am seeking a total amount of $25,000.
This final amount will be used for:
1) Securing stock footage crucial to the film. This stock footage is $3,000 per minute. The footage includes Gacy at Anamosa Prison as a prison chef, CBS 2 News Footage of Walter Jacobson Interviewing Gacy at Menard, and news footage covering the Gacy case when it broke in 1978.
2) Licensing Stock Photos, which cost minimum of $300 per photo.
3)Final filming. As I am editing the film, I am also filming when needed. As a final cut comes closer into focus, I will be filming several more interviews and other BROLL/reenactment/ insert footage.
4)Final post production of editing, music and sound mix.
WHY MAKE A GACY FILM NOW?
The John Wayne Gacy case is still open as Lieutenant Jason Moran of the Cook County Sheriff Office is heading up the Cold Case initiative to identify the final unidentified victims of Gacy.
WHY HAVE THE FUNDRAISER?
Many people ask how they can help. This fundraiser is a way for everyone who is interested in my work to help produce and finish my next film, The John Wayne Gacy Murders. I am creating this film on an ultra low budget. The current distribution method of streaming does not afford the ability to create more films, as it once did in the past.
HOW LONG?
This is an ONGOING fundraiser but because of the covid outbreak, I am now aiming for a 2023 completion date. The contributions are cumulative, so if you contribute multiple times, they will be added up to receive more film credit(s).
WHERE ARE THE CONTRIBUTIONS GOING?
The contributions will be used towards the production to complete the film.
PERKS
There are no physical perks for this fundraiser. Instead, you may contribute any dollar amount. Here is what you will receive for contributing:
$5-9: Special Thanks in film credits.
$10-$200: Credit in the film as contributor.
$225-$300: Credit as an associate producer.
$1,000 & above: Credit as an executive producer.
(All credits will be included in the film and on IMDB.)
(For credit, amounts can be contributed at once or over the time of the fundraiser and the total contributions will be added up once the films are complete.)
