John Walter VanMeter, 55, of Jefferson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020. John was born in North Wilkesboro. John was an OEM paving support manager with Leica Geosystems, specializing in concrete and asphalt paving.
John was sincere, kind and a friend to everyone. John was genuine--he was interested in what each person had to say. His family and friends will have the most unique stories to share, as he touched the lives of everyone. For John, life seemed more simple--what worked was fine and what didn't, he just let it roll off and would say "don't sweat the small stuff." There was no judgement from John, just a sharing of what was in your heart. He took such pleasure in what counted the most--hearing a friend's voice, the blue sky above his green grass, the sounds of his tractor running, coming home, and most importantly his son.
For anyone who knew John, his entire life was filled with love and joy for his son Sean. If you ran into John, there was always a story to share about Sean's life and activities--his amazing talents. In the past few months during quarantine, John relished in having Sean at home. They would haul the piano outside and have small private concerts by the garden. Quarantine allowed him to do what he loved most, spend time at home with Sean and Lulu.
He touched the lives of so many and our hearts will forever miss our wonderful friend.
This gofundme account will help where John would most want it, Sean's college fund.
