Hello Friends!

I'm Mel, and the handsome guy in the picture is my darling husband John.

For over twenty years, I've watched this man give of himself, in work, in art, in loving everyone around him. Whether he has cooked for you at the Root Cellar, left free art at your favorite coffee shop, or helped you pick the perfect gift at This & That, John makes it his mission every day to give folks a reason to smile.

Now, this talented artist is facing unavoidable surgery on his right shoulder; not only will it stop the constant pain, but it will restore function in his dominant arm, the one that gives his many gifts to the world.

Sadly, cooking and art make for uncertain finances, and not only will the surgery be expensive, but the recovery time is measured in months rather than weeks...

My own earnings as a childcare provider cannot support us and pay for the medical bills we are about to face.

That is why we are coming to you, dear friends, hat in hand. Every dollar will help, every repost will too.
