Uncle John was diagnosed last year with Primary Myelofibrosis, a rare and aggressive bone marrow disorder. He and Aunt Tracey have been to countless appointments in the months since, digested tons of information, and made some tough decisions. We’ve all been warned that this will be an arduous journey (to say the least), but Uncle John is a fighter, and he has the backing of family, friends, church family, and community. We all have faith he will beat this just like he beat cancer 12 years ago.
Due to the condition's rarity, all expenses are not guaranteed to be covered by insurance. Testing and other preparations are beginning this week with intense chemotherapy and his bone marrow transplant to follow in mid to late June. His recovery will be complex and demanding. This process, while outpatient, requires daily visits and isolation for three months. John and Tracey will be living away from home (in Durham) for the duration and adhering to strict guidelines for food and environment due to his lowered immune system.
John’s medical expenses, dual-living expenses, out-of-pocket medical expenses for the donor’s care, and the added burden of being unable to work during this time have led us to set up a way for others to help by contributing financially if you’re able.
Uncle John is a man of great faith. The family humbly asks for prayers above all else. We know that God is good, and He goes with Uncle John into every test, appointment, and procedure. Please pray for Aunt Tracey, Graham, Nolan, Kristen, and Caitlin as well. We thank you ahead of time for your prayers and any financial support you can give.
Aunt Tracey does an excellent job of keeping everyone informed. If you’d like to follow along, please follow her on Facebook.
