Hello!
I am excited to share with you a journey that began on a bright and warm summer day in August last year. I put on an old pair of sneakers and ran for the first time in about ten years. My heart was pounding, and I gasped for air after finishing just one mile. But the sense of accomplishment felt so good and rewarding that I kept pushing myself and continued to run several days a week. One-mile runs eventually turned into longer runs – 13.1 miles to be exact when I completed the NYC Half this past March! And now, I am looking forward to completing my first full marathon that spans 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of the city I call home!
On November 6th, I will be racing in the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon. I secured a coveted spot in this historic and world-renowned marathon through Fast Feet, a non-profit organization with a mission to make athletics, nutrition, and social skills development accessible and inclusive to all people.
Fast Feet provides adaptive, inclusive running programs and health equity initiatives for youth and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. These programs and initiatives offer the physical, mental, and social benefits of running to the various schools and communities that serve the disabled. The coaches and volunteers of Fast Feet empower people to self-identify as an athlete so that they can benefit from the many positive outcomes that correlate with being part of a team and having the tools to live a healthy, happy lifestyle.
By entering the NYC marathon through Fast Feet’s charity spot, I have proudly pledged to raise funds for them so that they can continue the amazing supportive programs for those who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate and experience because of their disability. My goal is to raise $5,000 by the time I cross the finish line in Central Park on November 6th!
Won’t you join me on this journey by financially donating to Fast Feet? Your contribution will impact the lives of so many people, including mine! During the grueling training runs, and even on the day of the race when I feel fatigued and want to give up, I will remember our partnership to open doors for disabled people who need a helping hand or seeing eyes to accomplish great and rewarding achievements on and off the racetrack. Your generous and compassionate support for helping others will give me the strength that I need to push through mile after mile. Please join me by donating today!
