In Loving Memory of John Roberts

My dad, John Roberts, passed away peacefully at home following an epic and courageous battle with cancer.

His journey began in 2009 when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones. Despite being told it was stage 4, Dad refused to let cancer define him. He faced every setback with determination, humour, and an inner strength that carried him through another 16 incredible years.

He didn’t just survive — he lived. Fully. Stubbornly. On his own terms.

On Saturday 7th March, my partner Jamie, along with his colleague and great friend Steve, will be taking part in the Hospiscare Men’s Walk in his memory. The walk is around 7 miles and brings together hundreds of men, all walking to remember someone important to them while raising vital funds for hospice care. It’s about community, remembrance, and doing something positive in honour of the people we love.

We’ve set a starting fundraising target of £250 — but we would absolutely love to go far beyond that in Dad’s name.

We’ve created this page not only to support Hospiscare, who provide such compassionate end-of-life care, but also two other charities that meant a great deal to Dad:
• Marie Curie – for the incredible work they do supporting people and families facing terminal illness.
• RNLI – a charity close to Dad’s heart, representing bravery, selflessness, and helping others without hesitation.

Every penny raised will be split equally between the three charities. To make it even more meaningful, I will personally match the final total raised, doubling the impact in Dad’s memory.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean so much to us. And if you’re not in a position to donate, simply sharing this page would be hugely appreciated.

This walk is just one small way to honour a man who showed extraordinary resilience, strength, and heart for 16 years against stage 4 cancer.

Not only for Dad — but for everyone fighting this disease every single day, and for the families walking beside them.

Thank you for helping us turn love and loss into something positive ❤️
