Hello,
Last fall, after the sad loss of our pappa, John Villar, we were left wondering what we could do to honor him, as well as help with our own healing. As most of you know, he loved the outdoors and even in his toughest days, turned to the Triple Tree trails right outside his door for peace. We thought it would be very fitting to have a bench at the overlook point, but there already is a bench in that spot. We got in touch with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust and as luck would have it, that popular bench is falling apart and in need of replacement. We are told a new, sturdier bench in his memory will cost around $2,000.
While it’s uncomfortable to ask for help in making this bench happen, one of the things that touched us after his loss was the amazing outpouring from community – all of the people who were there for him during his challenging last months, or who perhaps didn’t know his struggles but really cared about and admired him. Because of that, it would be really special to have this bench represent all of that love and caring. Any size donation (truly!) is most welcome.
I am told that with funding, the bench could be installed by the beginning of summer. Please feel free to donate to gofundme or send checks made out to GVLT at the address below by July 1. (I will send out an email after that date to report on the progress of the project.) Please note on any checks that they’re for John P. Villar’s memorial bench.
Payments can be sent to GVLT, PO Box 7021, Bozeman, MT 59771.
If donations exceed the $2000 dollars needed for the bench, the rest will be donated to GVLT or the Bozeman Help Center.
