John P. Laudicina Memorial Fund
It is with broken hearts and unending sorrow that we must share with you the passing of a beautiful soul, John Phillip Laudicina. He left us this past Thursday night June 24, 2021 and his death was pronounced early Friday morning June 25, 2021. John was a person filled with character, charisma, and a zest for life that was unmatched.
John was hilariously funny and elicited smiles and laughter from even the most stoic people. He made friends wherever he went and was not just the life of the party; he WAS the party.
Johnny’s pride and joy were, and will forever be, his daughters Liliana Mae and Valentina Maria. The love he had for his daughters and for our family was fathomless. He was deeply sentimental and nostalgic and there are so many photos, cards, notes, and keepsakes that he treasured and kept with him. He also loved animals and formed unbreakable bonds with our family pets and any animals he met in his travels.
John was a fashion plate. His sense of style was unique and impeccable and it is quite impressive how many hats, pairs of shoes, “pantses,” and colognes he owned. Whenever he was getting dressed to go out he would ask for opinions on what shoes went better with his outfit or which hat, tie, etc was best.
His favorite holiday was Independence Day and he loved to have the most impressive fireworks displays for the neighborhood. He also loved Halloween and always enjoyed dressing in costume and going trick-or-treating when he was young and also with daughters.
John possessed endless creativity and had an infinite number of dreams and ideas. Photography, cinematography, guitar, music, poker, and video editing were only some of his passions in which he possessed immense talent.
He made a career in Film and Television as a Camera Operator and truly loved his work. He was also a member of the Local 600 Cinematographers Guild. John studied at and obtained degrees at Suffolk Community College and Southern Illinois University for Media Studies. From when he was little, he, along with his sister, cousins and friends, was using his dad’s state-of-the-art Panasonic VHS Camcorder to create narrative films, commercials, music videos, and even stop motion animation. He continued to make videos together with family and friends and captured so many beautiful and entertaining moments that will enable us all to share in his memory.
He was caring and generous, silly and funny, thoughtful, inventive, inspired and intelligent.
Rest in Peace John, a.k.a "Johnny boy," “John t.g.,” “JP,” “Laudi,” beloved son, father, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and dear friend.
John is survived by his parents, John and Catherine Laudicina, his daughters, Liliana and Valentina, his sister, Jessica, his grandmothers Maria Massaro and Antonia Laudicina, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
