John Notchey’s battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

My 17 year old son John was diagnosed with Stage 2A Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on June 30, 2020, after discovering a lump, on the left side of his neck, several weeks earlier. From that day, everything happened so fast; CT scan, PET scan, echocardiogram, surgical biopsy and port placement surgery. On July 15th, John was admitted for the first of 4-3 day cycles of chemo. He handled that cycle and the other 3 cycles of chemo fairly well. The last cycle was completed by the end of September 2020. Scans showed that he was in remission.

Fast forward to 2021…

In March, follow up scans showed a mass in John’s chest. The monster known as cancer had returned. The diagnosis was relapsed Stage 2A Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This time he would need to be treated with different, stronger chemo than previous.

As of this writing, all chemo cycles are complete and John is preparing for an extensive hospital stay as he undergoes a Stem Cell Transplant at CHOP.

After so many have asked how they can help our family, we’ve decided to start this GoFundMe campaign. All donations will be used to cover our family’s loss of income. (FMLA benefits have been exhausted.)

Please share this page and consider a financial donation, if possible. No amount is too small. It will allow us to put our full attention to John’s care throughout the transplant process, as well as his recovery, and relieve some of the stress of wondering how we’ll continue to pay the bills.

In addition, please keep John and our family in your prayers.

Thank you all!
