Hi as some of my friends on Facebook will know I lost my Dad last year to mesothelioma cancer, a cancer picked up through working with asbestos when he was just 18 - 21 years old. It lay dormant in his body for over 45 years until one day when he was away in his campervan had an unusual sore stomach. After coming home and trips back and forward to the hospital he was diagnosed with mesothelioma in June 21. On October the 26th he was given 3 months to live. Determined to see my 30th birthday in April 22 he made it to then and sadly passed away on the 3rd of May only aged 65. Everyone who knows how close me and my dad where will understand how difficult the last 2 years have been and still are, we had rarely gone a day without speaking to each other over the phone or in person.
Me and my mate are going to walk the west Highland way starting June 24th, 96 mile walk in 5 days. to raise money for asbestos action a local charity who help people with mesothelioma and similar asbestos related cancers to pay something back for all the help my dad received.
The total raised will be matched by myself upto £1000 and then donated to asbestos action who help others in Scotland that are diagnosed with asbestos related diseases.
