John Neufeld

My name is David Thiessen and I'm trying to raise money for my cousin John Neufeld of Mexico.

John had a bad motorcycle accident on December 12 2019 where he rear ended a vehicle with a trailer without lights. Due to all the test being done and a hospital change John had his first surgery on December 14 2019. This is where they tried to fix his right Femur bone which was broken and also tried to fix the damage done above his right hip where he had ripped ligaments and tendons. There was extensive tissue damage due to the initial crash and also from road rash. After a gruelling 4 months of therapy and trying to go back to work, he had more tests made because the pain was not going away it was getting worse, Doctors realized that every time he put pressure on the right leg it re-broke the bone(it had never healed properly), plans were then made to do another surgery to the leg. On April 15 2020 John had his second 7 hour surgery. He is still in a lot of pain but it now is starting to slowly get better. The Doctor had said it would take another 3-4 months before he would be able to go back to normal life.

John has been off of work almost the whole time, he tried to go back to work part time before the second surgery but was unable to after a little while. John is getting a little money every day from his employer ($110 pesos a day) which is about $6 CDN. In Mexico there isn't really any government founding so if you don't have private insurance you don't get help, so all him and his family are getting is just the $110 pesos a day. His first surgery had cost $80,000 pesos, about $4,500 CDN, but thankfully that was paid by the owner of the vehicle John hit. Although all the tests, Doctor visits and medication he had to pay himself. The second surgery was $90,000 pesos, about $5,000 CDN, this he had to pay for himself on top of all the new tests, Doctor visits and lots of medication. This has taken a tremendous toll on the whole family, financially and mentally. John and Sarah Neufeld are a young family with 4 kids; Daniel 9, Gabino 6, Jovany 2, & Sebastian 6 months.

Though the family has gotten lots of support from Friends and Family they are in very desperate need for money. He has always been the sole provider for the Family so as you can imagine this has not been easy, and unfortunately with financial stress and all the pain, depression is always around the corner this has taken a big toll on all, specially their kids.

I asked John if I had permission to set up the GoFundMe account to try and help them out financially and he gave me permission.

I'm hopping to be able to raise some money to help the young Family out. While I know there is always lots of people in need of help I'm asking you to help me with making it financially easier for John and his Family.
