Raising funds for our dear friend and fellow musician John Murphy, who as you know has severe heart failure. He has an LVAD (left ventricular assistance device), which pumps blood through his heart for him, and connects to a computer he wears on a belt via a chord that goes through the all of his stomach, and it is powered by two batteries he wears on a vest during the day, and a wall sourced power module at night.
He also has an implanted ICD, which delivers pacing, or an electric counter-shock, to the heart when a life-threatening abnormal rhythm is detected.
John and his wife Cindy need some financial help. They live in San Jose and make frequent trips to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto for treatment for John’s heart condition, and for repairs to the ICD, which is starting to have frequent fails. They are in desperate need of a car to transport them to John’s many appointments. They have been without a car for over a year now, and have been borrowing vehicles from friends and family. This has been adding to their stress level, making John’s condition worse, and adding to Cindy’s already enormous stress levels from being a caregiver to both John and her 93 year-old mother. Cindy is also dealing with a myriad of her own health issues. A car that runs would provide some much needed relief for the family!
John is scheduled for an upcoming surgery, which makes it more urgent for Cindy to be able to travel to visit him while he is hospitalized.
Thank you for any help you can give!
