John Fredrick McAndrews, 32, of Wheaton, IL formerly of St. Charles, IL, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 in Wheaton, IL. John was born on February 10, 1987 in Chicago, IL, the son of Robert and Linnea (nee West) McAndrews.
John valued life, family, friendship, loyalty and justice. He was passionate, talented and charismatic. He was deeply loved.
John was engaged in a battle in this life over which he did not find victory, but rather, deliverance. But victory will come, for “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will all be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: Death has been swallowed up in victory.” (I Corinthians 15:51-54)
So until that day,
Soldier rest, thy warfare o’er, sleep the sleep that knows not breaking,
Dream of battled fields no more, days of danger, nights of waking….
- Sir Walter Scott
John is survived by his parents, Robert and Linnea McAndrews; two siblings, Thomas (Lindsay) McAndrews and Colleen (Casey) Dauw; maternal grandmother, Margot Burgh, two nieces, Ellie and Aida Dauw; and two nephews, Owen and Isaac Dauw.
John was preceded in death by paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 P.M. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Chapelstreet Church, 2300 South Street, Geneva, IL 60134. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
John was passionate about the outdoors and impacting youth. He spent some time working at Expeditions Unlimited in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Expeditions exists to further the kingdom of God in our enjoyment and cultivation of the outdoors.
