John Mark Diamond Funeral expenses

Donation protected

Hi my name is Joshua Diamond. I am the son of John Mark Diamond. He was the most incredible father and boat captain in Alaska. My dad was also one of the best chefs that you will ever know. The Diamond family is strong but has lost one of its strongest warriors. Our loss is very hard on his five sons so any donation would be of such help in our time of need.

John Mark Diamond, age 65, sadly left us on January 29th, 2024, following a health failure in his home in Orem, Utah. John is survived by his wife Pamela Diamond, as well as his former wife, Donna, and their children, Beau, Sam, Josh, Devan, and Trevor.

John was born December 8th, 1958 to Susan and John Diamond in San Antonio, Texas. From there, his family lived all across the United States and even overseas in Japan. The spirit of adventure remained strong in John and led him to the wild places of the world, like Alaska, Montana, and Wyoming, where he spent many years honing his passions as chef and fisherman.

John was most known by family and friends for his food. There was never a hungry moment with John. He’d whip up a delicious dish on demand. From a young age as line cook in Hawaii, he grew to eventually become a BBQ king. He ran and created restaurants around the US, and eventually created the BBQ sauce known as “Nasty Sauce,” which was always on hand whenever John was around. In such high demand, it wasn’t uncommon to find him stirring five-gallon buckets of the sauceto be delivered to his friends. Many would say he had some of the finest BBQ to be found. The world will miss the flavor of his cuisine as much as it'll miss the flavor of his unique character.

John Diamond was also a stalwart man of God, Country, and Family. With a strong love for God, John was an ardent defender of his faith, his moral convictions held proudly on his shirt sleeve. A patriot and a veteran, John spent time in the army as a mounted military police officer, and he remained a symbol to many of what it meant to be a strong man today.

He was often compared to the stars in Western movies, and was said to have the looks of Tom Selleck, the mannerisms of Clint Eastwood, and the stride of John Wayne—for those that knew him, all those would be wildly accurate. He was a big man with a big personality and a big heart, and sometimes, but not often, a big cowboy mustache.

John Diamond will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church Meetinghouse located at 663 West 400 North, Saratoga Springs, with the viewing at 9:30 to 10:30 and standard services at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024. To help John’s family in this time of need, you can contribute to the memorial fund at
