My name is John Magee, a long-time friend of John List. Right now we are in a desperate situation. John List is living on the street in Missoula without access to shelter or housing until February. He has been on the street for 10 years but always has had options to escape the winter weather. That has not been the case this year and he is one very cold night away from dying of exposure. John is a bilateral amputee and it is practically impossible for him to move around Missoula in the snow. The Poverello is closed to him due to medical reasons, and Missoula sadly has no alternatives for people in his position. With housing costs what they are in town John has run out of options. We are looking to put together an emergency fund to keep him out of the cold while we appeal the Poverellos decision and seek low income housing. Our only options as we work to get John permanently housed are a handful of motels in Missoula. At around 70 dollars a night, housing John for 2 months costs a minimum of 4200.
