The friends and family of John Jr. Washington HUHO have started a GoFundMe fundraiser for him. He experienced a house fire on May 26, 2025, suffered brain damage primarily from smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation and required resuscitation at the scene. He was admitted to the Vancouver General Hospital Intensive Care Unit until June 4 when his family decided to take him off life support.

John had just turned 24 and was studying International Business at Alexander College in Burnaby. This accident has come as a major shock to his family and friends who have known John as a vibrant soul, globally minded student leader, advocate, athlete, mentor and all-round good guy with tremendous promise and life goals!

Funds are being raised to help support his family’s travel costs to Vancouver, Canada; funeral costs in Canada; transportation of the body back to Tanzania and funeral and burial costs in Tanzania.
